Little Miss Sunshine

It is January. Let’s just say this is the time of year I occasionally fall into a sad depression due to the gloomy weather and cold. So, on that note let me bring some sunshine into your life with these shots.

January can also be a time for self reflection and for the feeling of renewal. It is the time to put the New Years resolutions to motion. So here I am reflecting on the past as I see myself in this jumpsuit…

For the first time I see pictures of myself and smile simply because they give me a feeling of warmth. This is exactly what I envisioned when I made this jumpsuit a really long time ago for a project I started with a friend that unfortunately had to be put to rest because at the time I knew I did not have in me the energy to give enough. I know I am not the only one out there that ever felt this way. Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves when we know we cannot give enough of ourselves to something, as much as we may want to. I am here to say the following words to those who may need to hear it because I did not get to hear this when I wish I could have: “It is ok, you are enough, one day you will be able to give more. It is ok not be able to do it all, and it is ok to say no when you need to for your mental well being.”

I realize now I am in a much better place, I am stronger, healthier, wiser and I have a vision that is my own. Sometimes creative people suffer because they have a vision but they do not know how to bring their vision to life and they constantly search for the ‘how.’ And once again, “it’s ok.”

If you are like me, remind yourself you are a dreamer and that in its own is enough to be. No one else is like you and no one else may understand; but, here lies your power. No one is you and no one has your dreams, your visions. That, is, your, power.

I am not sure if these words are purely for my past self but in case someone who needs these words will stumble upon this blog post one day, take from it this: at the end of the rain comes a rainbow, and then there will be sun. Be your own Little Miss Sunshine!

A huge thank you to my friend Mark @visualize_soul_photo for these beautiful images! We took these at a winery we stumbled upon on our day long shoot together where we shared a nice meal after, the whole experience was lovely! The winery sits atop of a hill with nice views of the rolling fields of vines below, it is called Megalomaniac.

And on that note, that is all. Keep on shining!
