The beautiful Raquel Khan’s new single With You is out now and I had the lovely opportunity to go to her release party!

I was not sure what to wear for the occasion and at the same time I did not know where to go shopping, or whether I would even have the chance to visit shops at all. I had a week to figure it out. Instead, I pulled a “Mariya” and rummaged through the heaps of fabric I bought on a whim and never used and stumbled upon a fabric I want to say I purchased in the Barrie Fabricland of all places. I do not recall the price per meter for the fabric but I do believe it was not the cheapest but I fell in love with it and bought up 5 meters. The fabric almost had a suede feel and a matte satin look, but I cannot tell you what type of fabric it is exactly. I used up about two meters in the end.

I created a two piece combination: a corset and skirt. The idea was I wanted it to be wearable, something that can be dressed up and down. I wore the corset the same day to work with a blazer and a pair of black pleather pants. Later, I simply threw on the skirt which was a wrap around tie up situation that created a nice high slit, added a sparkly necklace, black heels, and a little hand made black clutch.

I was happy that people were fooled into thinking it was a dress, my goal was achieved. The party itself was super fun, held at a nice spot in Vaughan; Venue Event Space. Check out the With You video I linked below, enjoy!
